Overview

The Ember Tetra (Hyphessobrycon amandae) is a tiny, brilliantly orange-red schooling tetra that adds a warm glow to nano and planted tanks. Extremely peaceful and suitable for shrimp tanks.

Tank Setup

  • Minimum tank size: 30 litres for 8+
  • Decor: Dense planting, floating plants; dim lighting enhances orange colour
  • Note: Excellent for nano planted tanks and shrimp setups

  • Treats: Micro worms, daphnia, baby brine shrimp
  • Note: Very small mouth β€” appropriately sized food essential

Temperament & Tank Mates

  • Temperament: Peaceful, active schooling fish
  • Best companions: Other nano fish ( endlers, rasboras), dwarf shrimp, snails
  • Avoid: Any fish large enough to eat them
  • Schooling: Minimum 8; 12+ creates stunning visual impact

Breeding
